Maltodextrin, Fructose, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Magnesium citrate, Flavouring (lemon). With sugars.

SportsControl WinErgy is an 'energy drink' that has been especially designed to ensure optimal absorption of carbohydrates (~sugars) during exercise.

One litre of SportsControl WinErgy provides 140 grams of carbohydrates, of which 71% consists of maltodextrin and 29% of fructose, and guarantees an energy intake of 552 kcal per litre. SportsControl WinErgy, when dissolved as described in the instructions for use (see below), yields a hypertonic drink with an osmolality of ~450 mOsm/kg. Given that its osmolality is higher than that of our hypotonic thirst quencher SportsControl 2Win (~250 mOsm/kg) or rehydration drink SportsControl O.R.S.4Sport (~225 Osm/kg), this typical energy drink will slow down the absorption of water into the body. Contrary to SportsControl 2Win or SportsControl O.R.S.4Sport, SportsControl WinErgy is a sports drink of which the principal aim is the absorption of carbohydrates into the body, and to a lesser degree the absorption of water to compensate for sweat loss.

Because of the high concentration of carbohydrates, SportsControl WinErgy is particularly suitable to ensure rapid absorption of large amounts of carbohydrates, and thus useful energy, in a reduced amount of water, either before, during or after exercise. SportsControl WinErgy can be used in preparation for a long-duration endurance performance (>90min) so as to boost carbohydrate stores in the muscles during the last days before the competition. Moreover, SportsControl WinErgy is also the ideal drink to supply constant energy to the muscles during long-duration exercises (>60min), more in particular during exercises in a rather cold environment in which it is not advisable to drink large amounts of water because of the reduced water loss through transpiration. SportsControl WinErgy can possibly be used as a sports drink during exercises in a warm environment, too, on condition that the sportsman or sportswoman ensures sufficient intake of water by drinking SportsControl O.R.S.4Sport or regular water. Given that the restoration of carbohydrate stores in the muscles after exercise largely depends on the amount of carbohydrates taken after exercise, SportsControl WinErgy, preferably in combination with SportsControl Recovery or SportsControl Recup Gold, can also serve to enhance recovery after exercise. Considering its high calorie content (552 kcal per litre), SportsControl WinErgy is less suitable to be consumed during general fitness training within the context of fitness and health. After all, such training is an effective way to control the body weight and an additional energy intake is thus not desirable.

Instructions for use:
Before exercise
The intake of 2 to 4 doses of 500 ml of SportsControl WinErgy as 'refreshments', i.e. in addition to the regular meals, whether or not in combination with other carbohydrate-rich products from the SportsControl range, such as SportsControl 2Win, in the 2 to 3 days prior to a major endurance competition, can considerably improve performances.

During exercise
The recommended intake of carbohydrates during intensive long-duration exercises (>60min) is 1 to 1.3 grams of carbohydrates per kg body weight per hour. One dose of 500ml of SportsControl WinErgy contains 70 grams of carbohydrates. Consequently, in order to ensure a sufficient supply of carbohydrates, it is necessary to take about 1 dose of 500ml of SportsControl WinErgy for every 40 to 80 min of exercise, in function of the body weight. Besides, extra water can be consumed subject to necessity.

After exercise
Despite the absorption of carbohydrates before and/or during exercise, the body usually needs additional carbohydrates after intensive exercise in order to restore the body's own stores. It is thus advisable to first drink a typical 'recovery drink', such as SportsControl Recovery or SportsControl Recup Gold, immediately after exercise. The intake of additional carbohydrates through 1 to 2 doses of SportsControl WinErgy within the first 3 to 4 hours following exercise will further enhance recovery. In the event of severe dehydration, however, we recommend to use SportsControl O.R.S.4Sport in combination with SportsControl 2Win so as to stimulate the restoration of carbohydrate, water, and salt stores in the body.
